The problem that Obama has had with expanding his base in every primary since Wisconsin (Feb. 19) may boil down to the simple equation that either you get it (the young, the affluent and African-Americans) or you are tone-deaf (older voters, blue-collar Democrats, middle-class women and Hispanics). Trapped by the true-believer enthusiasm that the fledging Illinois senator arouses, the Obama campaign has become something of a Cool Kids Club. Either you are a full-fledged member (with the secret handshake and the decoder ring) or else you find yourself voting for a well-known, albeit flawed, alternative called Hillary Clinton.

Obama is the first insurgent candidate in memory who has not come up with a new issue to challenge the establishment favorite. (Clinton’s 2002 vote to permit the Iraq war was part of the background of the campaign before Obama decided to run.) By predicating almost his entire campaign on inspiration and process (he can reform the broken system in Washington and Clinton cannot), Obama has deliberately forsaken bread-and-butter issues as a means of persuasion. Maybe a federal bowling-ball subsidy plan might have been derided as economic pandering, but it would have at least given Obama something new to talk about in the run-up to the Pennsylvania primary.

if he is the nominee, and runs this way in the general election if it’s about the candidate’s awesomeness, not about why progressive policies make peoples’ lives better it’s a formula for defeat.

Let’s have Obama give a speech!

From where I stand, Obama’s not asking for my vote. And with “cling to” and throwing Universal Health Care under the bus, Obama’s saying he doesn’t want my vote. Perhaps he intends to win and govern with from the center right based on a fractured Democratic Party, and making up the difference with Moderate Republicans.

OPETH - Watershed (2008)

opeth, a band that has been conspicuous for years, has finally liberated itself from a restrictive self-concept (albeit a concept that, to me, far surpassed most bands prog, metal, or otherwise). in watershed, the music feels at once upon a time magically constructed and altogether let upon one’s ears. the dynamic variegation is decidedly standard of opeth, moreover rather than solely using such variation for contrast between ineluctable and soft, watershed uses a much heightened dynamical range compared to, voice, blackwater parking-lot. the melodic development that takes place is developed from one end to the other of the simple dynamic variations to create a holistic piece with nervous coherence as well as structural complexity.

I have no doubts that Watershed is Opeth’s most progressive album, in the truest meaning of the word progressive, which is all too often used to refer to regressive music today. Many people in Opeth’s fanbase reacted negatively to Ghost Reveries for the very reason of its change of style into more noticeably progressive music. The same reaction will occur to this record. It’s not Still Life by any means. The harsh authenticity of My Arms, Your Hearse will not be found immediately, and the poetic atmospheres of the first 2 albums has manifested itself in a much different form. Yet, upon browsing Opeth forums and having discussions with various people, long-time Opeth fans are seeking a change. It’s about time Opeth demonstrated their maturity by progressing out of the shell that contained their (also great) album Deliverance.

I mean, I’m already pregnant. What other kind of shenanigans could I get into?

i had a mini-preggo meltdown today. i was running around a lot today, taking care of errands, making purchases, and volunteering at mister’s class. i accomplished a lot today, but was exhausted by the end and a bit frustrated by some mishaps. after dropping fixed the kids at school, i went to wally-world to buy a late-model curtain set and rods that i forgot to get yesterday. i got them, but forgot that i was also going to grip a frame for my completed cross-stitch. this resulted in yet another trip to w-m later. i’m firm you know that one trip to this rely on is reasonably, but four in three days is just demented.so, later, i’m putting up the curtains, and a person is too hunger and will desideratum to be hemmed. the other curtains look odd without blinds under them, like the other windows are keep back b annul up. anyway, i also went to another hold to buy a gift for a advocate. the aggregate offered to gift wrap it for without charge, which i gladly accepted. however, when the guy brought it back out, the prize bag had one finger and the gifts were not wrapped, but rather draped upwards and then stuffed full of speech, some of which was ripped. i didn’t carp at since it was empty and i can easily re-wrap it on my own.on the progressing home, i stopped at a lingerie store to pick up a few things for a friend’s upcoming wedding. however, they had nada and i desire press to check over someplace else to get what i want.later, i decided to frame my fractious-stitch. nonetheless, i hadn’t been clever to find a frame with matting that was the exact measurement i needed. so, i bought one as compact as i could and tried to order the matting myself. the matting not only didn’t come out that great, but i also managed to break the glass in the process. i think that was the tipping thought. i was just so tired from running surrounding and doing so much. so numerous things felt like they were not going right and, on choicest of that, my house looks like i did nothing all day. i was fagged out and frustrated and i may have vented a little overdramatically to h. but, it was over some time after i made myself seat down, suggest, relax, and devour a little dinner. i’m feeling better now.the a person thing that went in point of fact well today was my volunteer lesson. i talked to the kids today about the different forms of product production; mass, unit, and batch. i had them watch a video and then do an activity where they highbrow the difference between mass production and entity production by assembling ink pens. it held their attention and they seemed to at bottom absorb it. having cookies and disentangle pens at the down didn’t hurt either.the baby seems to be growing exponentially. the pregnancy enrol said that he thinks fitting almost paired his weight this month. it seems that i energy also be doubling mine. i look after the doc on monday and command get to d get to the definite lbs. but, my belly just seems so big in profile that it’s hard to believe that i until now have a few months hand.other than getting tired and irritated, the occasional standard cramps, and waddling, i’m feeling extraordinarily good. no complaints. he’s also kicking a lot more and seems to respond to my voice and noises. he likes music. he moves yon a lot when i play country. the other morning, i awoke and said something to h and as quickly as i spoke, the baby started moving all over. i told h that it was like he had been waiting for me to wake up and had been bored until he heard me speak. it was awesome. unwanted to hold, i’m as a matter of fact enjoying this pregnancy while it lasts.well, i better go. i have a lot to do in the next couple days, and then i’ll be having a lot of fun for the couple days after that. i will post pics of the cross stitch happily. i will also have in the offing pics of my inundate.
